Final Judgment

What’s on the other side of this life we experience from day to day? There are no shortage of answers, as many claim to know. But as for proof positive, there is very little to go around.
I would like to say that faith is a good thing, but blind faith don’t make it so.
A Statement On Final Judgment
When standing in final judgment
With a list of my deeds to explain,
I will offer up no excuses
Instead I will sing a refrain
Of a verse or two from my misspent youth
Whose meaning I took as spiritual truth.
We laughed and we loved and we lived for each day.
We sang and we danced – sure that was the way
Happiness, merriment, and even contentment
Thinking my soul had discovered discernment.
But I cannot blame my folly
on wit or wisdom or song
Face to face with the man in the mirror
I know where my folly comes from
I see where my folly belongs
When asked at final judgment to mitigate my sin
I’ll laugh and I’ll smile
And all the while
Confess that I wouldn’t know where to begin
